WHY FOCUS ON BLACK SUICIDE
Suicide rates among Black youth and Black adults have climbed steadily over the past two decades.
A report by the Congressional Black Caucus noted that the suicide rate for high-school aged Black boys and Black girls both rose 73% between 1991 -2017
Black youth, 5-12 years, are approximately two times more likely to die by suicide than their White counterparts
Rates of Anxiety and Depression have tripled among black adults since 2019
